After being let down by a builder that we had waited 18 months for, I put a general search on Facebook for builders who had used scaffold tents (as a lot of builders were put off by this) and came across No1. We contacted Matt at the end of February, Nick (director) came out that week, provided a price and said they could fit us in end of April. At first I was dubious especially as they hadn’t come on recommendation, and because they wanted a 20% deposit, but as Matt said you don’t know us and we don’t know you, which I thought was fair enough. I need not have worried. They turned up on first day as planned and the lads from JRB started to erect the tent. This was super impressive, Josh and his team were excellent, everything was like a military precision. This is a skill in itself. Next Nick and Liam who were the guys on our build throughout, had to take out an existing steel that sat behind another steel, I was worried about how this would be done, but it was done and dusted within a few hours. Next came exactly 8 weeks (as promised) of building work. The compete roof needed to be stripped off due to a defect, and we had some pretty torrential rain, but the tent was worth its weight in gold and so glad we paid extra for this. Most of the building work was done above and under the tent and whilst we were working from home, but Nick and Liam were respectful and worked every day none stop. The only messy part was when they knocked through for the stairs but this was towards the end and they had the stairs and plastering done within 2 weeks. The roofing was done by Sean and his team from ridgeline, and they did an absolutely great job of it, and he returned to fix some of the tiles that had been broken due to the build. I honestly cannot commend Nick and Liam high enough, really nice guys, hard working and masters of their trade. If you are thinking about getting similar work done, you can trust Matt and his team to be reliable, true to their word, and that everything will be done to a high standard. A little shocked at his politeness but great guy Mick (plaster) - great guy - cracked on - no messing Roy (electrician) - great work on the electrics and giving us light, inside the conversion, outside and in the porch James (plumber) - thanks for changing our radiators Paul - now this guy is the real deal. He was our main point of contact and was here quite often - sometimes on his own. If it wasn't for Paul I think this project could have been very stressful. He got things done, organised what was needed, provided suggestions and was helpful in so many ways. If I have not mentioned you by name - my apologies - but THANK YOU. Should we decide to have any type of building work done in the future I would certainly contact No 1 without hesitation. The attention to detail is amazing and everyone is easy to approach and they are happy to answer any questions. Very highly recommended. Matt and his team did an amazing job. They were punctual and cleaned up at the end of each day. They came up with different ideas which we hadn’t thought of - the 50p shape for the downstairs toilet area looks fab - thanks Paul! For a small fee (well worth it) you can pay a building control company who work with no1 so you don’t have to get involved with any of planning side of things. As with all new relationships we had to find our rhythm with communication. The lads were really nice and did their best to respect that although it was a building site we were still living here. They were also able to offer advice; special shout out to both Nick’s and Liam. Also the Electrican, Andy. They went the extra mile for us when we wanted some extra plastering doing but couldn’t immediately afford it as it would be over budget; offering a pay later option which meant we could get the build finished as we wanted - special thanks to Matt and Chandra.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
